Freya Björg Olafson | Contortion Date
2010, signed 2016 | graphite on paper | 8.5 x 11 in
Contortion Date is a graphite work by Winnipeg-based intermedia artist Freya Olafson, which places a spatially decontextualized, contorted female figure that gazes back at the viewer. Offering a pleasant discomfort where minimal lines meet maximal effort. Classically trained in Ballet, Olafson merges formal training with a unique contemporary art practice that has received praise and recognition across Canada, in Athens, the United States and Ecuador.
