New titles from babel press: ray fenwick
In August 2013 Ray Fenwick participated in a three day print and publishing symposium in Dawson City, Yukon. Each participant spent time demonstrating printmaking techniques and this publication is a facsimile edition of the 30 letterpress title pages printed by Fenwick.
Working with a 36 point sans serif font Fenwick created these pages to demonstrate composing, setting, and printing with lead type. The book is created by starting with: THE COMBED THUNDERCLAP, and each successive page is created by changing just one or two letters from the previous print.
THE COMBED THUNDERCLAP is one of only a few book titles mentioned in Jorge Luis Borges' "The Library of Babel". That story, about an infinite library containing an infinite amount of books with an infinite combinations of possible letters, was the inspiration for the book.
